Hometown Emporium opened October of 1996 by Steve & Kristy Alves in a small shop on Pine Street in Downtown Exeter. We started as a gift store, packaging dried fruits and nuts as well as making candy to fill the many gift packs and baskets that we became known for. In May 2000 we started remodeling the building we purchased a few years earlier and by September 2000, the new Hometown Emporium was launched in its current location. At that time we added our bakery and by April 2001 we started our restaurant where we served sandwiches made on our fresh baked breads with fresh sliced meats that prepared and cooked in our own ovens. Hometown Emporium has always been based on the belief that our customers' needs are of the utmost importance. Our entire team here at Hometown are committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals.
Being committed to fulfilling our customer's needs; we have expanded our business to include specialty and wedding cakes, large event catering, and private party hosting at our secondary location, Cassandra's on Pine, as it became clear that is what our customers needed. We began catering in 2003 and have built up that side of the business to serve parties as large 300 people, or even larger, though our typical party size is 150-200 people. We began designing wedding cakes in 2004 and have always been committed to serving the most delectable buttercream cakes for 12 years. We opened Cassandra's on Pine in April 2015 to better meet the public's need of a more private setting for meetings, celebrations, and parties. With a capacity of 65-70, we are able to serve a simple business brunch or present a fantastic plated dinner to you and your guests only. Check out our menus for catering and events at Cassandra's on Pine under the corresponding tabs.
We would welcome the opportunity to earn your trust and deliver you the best service in the industry.
